Proposed as a response to the lengthly lines seen year round, this seating installation seeks to ease the experience of waiting for sometimes up to two hours in the direct sun or inclement weather, while being respectful to the existing constructions of the Vatican. A series of pattern and program studies determine the angles and variations of the corten beams that support a series of light canvas canopies intended to provide overlapping shade, in conjunction with the natural canopy. The deep red wooden seats are in alignment with the cream and rust color scheme and accent the length of the wall with pops of subtle color.
