Light art and light itself become more easily perceived and appreciated when in scarcity; therefore in order to create display spaces for works of light art, I sought to maximize a ‘volume of shadow’ initially created by the site and the necessary verticality of the program. By shifting and angling portions of the overall structure in response to the surrounding shade patterns, this Light Annex contains a vertical gradient of light conditions as well as spaces to study the art within them.
