As part of a basement conversion in Chelsea, allowing natural light to enter the space was a design challenge. The issue of light admission was prevalent in the gym because the area is surrounded by retaining walls.
The solution was to 'top light' the space with a lantern or skylight. The following image shows my design development from conception to technical detailing of the lantern. The photograph shows the completed lantern lighting the gym.
