The project is located in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, the fastest developing country in East Africa. In the project, which started as a 1-floor addition to the existing house, the family room, which will be located in the newly added part of the upper floor, was designed to be higher than the other spaces on the upper floor. Since there will be 6-7 people in the family room at the same time and 1 person in the bedrooms, the spaciousness of the space has been increased according to the user capacity with a higher ceiling design. Family Rome, which is positioned at a corner, therefore has a higher ceiling than the spaces on the first floor, and the architecture of the house is defined by extending each floor slab towards the exterior at different lengths. While the cantilevered roof of the family room defines an open space in the garden with a height of 2 floors, the ceiling of the ground floor defines an area in the garden with a height of 1 floor. While users in the garden are in a semi-open space, they will be faced with a roof cantilever slab of two different heights, and this will define different spatial usage styles for them, removing the monotony of the lifestyle in the garden.
