Still standing strong after its opening in 1976, the Washington D.C. Metro rail system designed by architect Harry Weese was deemed the recipient of the AIA's Twenty-five Year Award.
The award recognizes a structure that demonstrates architectural resilience for 25-35 years. The structure must also show excellence in function, execution of its original program, and creative aspects in accordance with today's standards.

The Two, a sales office for a new residential development in the Southern Chinese city of Xiamen has received a Distinguished Building Award from the American Institute of Architects Western Mountain Region. AIA Georgia presented 21 awards to 15 Georgia-based architecture firms at the AIA Georgia 2013 Design Awards Gala on Oct. 12 at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center. The annual Design Awards recognize works of excellency and distinction by Georgia architects.

The annual KRob Architectural Delineation Competition is coming back for its 39th year. The competition was established in 1974 by the AIA Dallas Chapter and named after architect Ken Roberts who was recognized for his talent in ink perspective drawing.
