British architect Kathryn Findlay, Co-Founder and Principal Director of London-based Ushida Findlay Architects, has died. Findlay had been suffering from a brain tumor.
Unaware of her recent passing, the jury of the 2014 Jane Drew Prize just announced her as this year's award recipient. The Prize, awarded annually by The Architects' Journal, recognized Kathryn Findlay ‘for her outstanding contribution to the status of women in architecture.'

Madeline Arakawa Gins, a poet-turned-painter-turned-architect who publicly forswore mortality — and whose buildings, by her own account, were designed to pre-empt death for those living in them — died on Wednesday in Manhattan. She was 72.
The cause was cancer, said Joke Post, the manager for architectural projects at the Reversible Destiny Foundation, which Ms. Gins and her husband, the Japanese-born artist known simply as Arakawa, established in 1987.

Visionary architect Paolo Soleri,the Italian-born designer of the experimental Arizona city near Cordes Junction called Arcosanti, died Tuesday. He was 93.
Arcosanti officials confirmed the death in a statement.
Soleri, one of the last living direct disciples of Frank Lloyd Wright, designed a $3.5 million pedestrian bridge in Scottsdale - Soleri Bridge & Plaza, the only completed bridge of the hundreds he designed. It is located southwest of Camelback and Scottsdale roads.

Colquhoun (1921-2012) was credited with inspiring a generation of architects who he taught at the Architectural Association between 1957 and 64.
He studied at the Edinburgh College of Art and AA before working for the London County Council in the 1950s.
He started Colquhoun & Miller, a partnership with architect John Miller, in 1961.
