By cannibalizing the material and spatial remains of the post-industrial city, a new idea of domesticity is born. The survivalist architecture must address utilities (water, heat), security, varying climatic conditions, food storage, and mental comfort, always adapting itself according to what it has on hand. This method of design and the restriction of material palette remove the extraneous from the work. The annual IS ARCH competition for architecture students and young architects has announced the winners of its second edition.
The competition jury, composed of Sou Fujimoto, Benedetta Tagliabue (EMBT), Tomislav Dushanov (Herzog & De Meuron), Taba Rasti (Foster + Partners ), Rik Nys (David Chipperfield Architects), and Carlos Ferrater (Technical University of Catalonia), looked through 153 submitted projects from all over the world.

Robert González wants to create a 3D digital replica of Downtown El Paso, using lasers.
