The search has begun for the design of the future Nobel Center in the Blasieholmen peninsula in Stockholm. Competition winners for the redesign of 54 Jefferson were announced at SiTE:LAB in Grand Rapids, MI on Sept. 24. The open one-stage ideas competition challenged participants to create compelling proposals for the redesign of the 54 Jefferson, a former natural museum building that opened in 1940. Ra+b--Design from China shared with us their Berlin Contemporary Bridge proposal that won the second prize in ArchTriumph's recent international competition. Participants were asked to design an iconic contemporary footbridge over the Spree River and between Schilling Bridge (Schillingbrücke) and the Oberbaum Bridge (Oberbaumbrücke), two well-known structures in Berlin. — bustler.net

The City of Minneapolis and the Minneapolis Downtown Council announced on Sept. 19 that New York firm James Corner Field Operations and its team have been selected to carry out the $40 million redesign of Nicollet Mall, a major cultural and commercial center in Downtown Minneapolis. The winning proposal, called the "Nicollet Walk", is a 12-block stretch that divides the Nicollet Mall into three sections: Live, Work, and Play. — bustler.net

Earlier this morning, Ground/Work, the design competition for Van Alen Institute’s new street-level space in NYC, announced Collective–LOK as the overall competition winner. The victorious design team was formed as a collaboration of Jon Lott (PARA-Project), William O’Brien Jr. (WOJR), and Michael Kubo (over,under).
