This week's picks for London architecture and design events

The Bartlett Summer Show 2018 | 23 June - 7 July

Opening this week is one of the most exciting summer shows in the architectural calendar, that of the Bartlett School of Architecture. Free of charge, open to the public, and this year more accessible than ever with student-led tours including one in British Sign Language; this is one summer show not to be missed.  

The Return of the Past: Postmodernism in British Architecture | Until 27 August

This exhibition, which is open throughout the summer, focuses on the 'radical moment' of Postmodernism's early period. Pivotal works by the movement's leading figures will be featured. Including drawings, models, images, and actual fragments of buildings by Piers Gough, James Stirling, and Terry Farrell. 

Don’t Move, Improve! Design Surgeries | 23 June

New London Architecture is holding another 'Don't Move Improve' day, with exhibitions, design surgeries, family workshops, and great coffee. The free advice received from architects on these days can make a real difference in how attendees use their spaces, and can be an invaluable starter in home improvement. 

Pixel Hut 3.0 | until 30 June

Pixel HUT returns in its third iteration, this time to Marloborough Sports Garden and reflects the need for shelter and our obsession with technology and 'connection'. While in the park, be sure to visit Interpreted Identities which also shares the space. 

A summer of architecture: a season of events exploring medicine and architecture | 21 June

Knowledge Capital: spaces for health | 22 June

Join a guided tour of an architectural history of health through medical London, lead by the Royal College of Physicians forming part of their season of 'medicine and architecture' on Thursday. Or join New London Architecture as key stakeholders explore the current changes and future transformations of London's medical facilities. 

Negroni Talks – Ending the architecture export | 25 June

With speakers including Paul Finch, and Vicky Richardson (London School of Architecture). This talk is one of a series of provocative discussions, and focuses on the idea of 'architectural export' in the face of Brexit. Pondering on how the UK will (or won't) adapt and where this leaves our architects, this evening will be fuelled by a cocktail or two.
