Architecture firms throughout the Bay Area sent over 200 submissions of their best projects around the world to the competitive AIA San Francisco Design Awards program. Out of those 200, only 19 were announced as winners in the Herbst Theatre at the San Francisco War Memorial & Performing Arts Center last Thursday.
Winners were selected in the main categories of Architecture and Interior Architecture ranking in Honor, Merit, and Citation (no Unbuilt Design winners were selected this time). This year's jury also awarded Special Commendations in Historic Preservation, Rainwater Collection + Recycling, and Social Responsibility.
