A sly dig at snobbish architects, an off-kilter murder mystery, a refreshing look at Scotland – there's a lot to like in BBC4's new drama.

Cracking Show, first aired over a year ago.
Having studied in Edinburgh its makes great viewing and really captures the architecture and social scene in the city.
Hopefully they film the rest of the series.
Many parts were also filmed at the architecture college, and the picture above is taken from the top floor of the library building.
zoolander, just curious - do you like the Parliament building?
Its OK LB,
Architecture wise its good,
the location at the bottom of the royal mile isn't great but the debating chamber is good and is accessible to the public. A few of the meeting rooms are exceptional aswell.
Im still curious as to why a spanish architect got the chance to design it.
And of course it was massively over budget costing the taxpayer millions.
Quite a strong architecture scene in Edinburgh with many medium size practices doing goof work.
*good work
I understood it went so far over budget mainly because the scope was increased significantly?
I thought it was gorgeous, and to me was a great combination of brawn and craft that was totally appropriate to the Scottish temperament. granted, my understanding of the Scottish temperament is mainly based on things like Braveheart, so what the hell do I know? ;-) But the debating chamber was beautiful, and the details throughout were lovely.
You detailing is good.
I was over at EMBT's office in barcalona for a visit and meet with BT. Quite a nice place, with a model making workshop with permanent technicians and a massive storage room on ground floor for older models.
Apaprently they had a girl working for 2.5 years on the hammerbeam roof design in the debating chamber!
2.5 years on beams: I believe it. The building is superb construction quality, from what I saw.
I love Scotland. <sigh> Hopefully I'll be back in about 8 years.

maybe it was a competition. And maybe the architect wasn't spanish but catalan (fuck, not "maybe", he WAS a catalan, and we are not spaniards, no matter what, no matter who!). And maybe catalans and scots we get along well. We share a certain political agenda.
But still... he won an architectural competition in 1998, that's all...
