What do you do with that all-too-common recessionary victim, the vacant lot? In San Francisco, the mayor hands 'em over to architects, like Douglas Burnham of Envelope A+D, who in turn turns 'em into, among other things, a temporary retail row with shops and a food court using fancy modular tech.

Great. Just what SF needs. Shopping, dining, retail, pop-up boutiques. Try filling SF's vacant lots with law and middle income housing, what the city really needs. Previosu ordinances have investigated using the city's vacant lots for such purposes, specifically to house the homeless, and the Octavia design comp drew forth some interesting proposals. Now, we are gonna get more commerce space?
