went there sunday - it's way worse live than on pictures. go see for yourselves if you can or else you won't be able to fully grasp the depth of the gehry mass psychosis.
i am going to london next weekend, so i will see for myself. i must admit i wasn't bowled over by the koolhaas one (the last one i saw), i think gehry's will have a bigger impact on me.
oh it will have an impact alright..recently read an article on zaha in which gehry is described as "the one-trick pony's one-trick pony". someone later commented that it's more of a no-trick pony. and he's getting the gold lion too. about koolhaas: i attended about 3 hrs of the 24 marathon in his pavilion 2 years ago. must say that all things considered it worked pretty well as an interior space encouraging participation, which was the main deal that year. that said it can of course be discussed the reason for it looking like a giant shroom..guess it was pretty bland in that way but it worked spatially. the current one doesn't, in any way.
