In light of the criminal investigation following the second crane accident in as many months in NYC, the top crane inspector for the city's department of buildings was arrested today after incriminating documents were seized from his office:
"The city’s chief crane inspector was arrested on Friday and charged with taking bribes to approve cranes under his review and for taking money from crane operators who sought to ensure that they would pass the required licensing exam, an official involved in the case said."

Wow. Corruption is alive and well in New York City. Who would have thought....
Expected. I mean 2 in a row. Someone was going down!
the weld didn't correctly penetrate the steel? rediculous... anyone who's had any kind of welding experience should be able to catch such a flaw with a casual eye examination.
