While the worlds attention has been shifted to the earthquake in China the ruling junta of Myanmar has released new numbers.
130,000+ are either dead or missing putting on par with one of the worst disasters to hit South Asia. Our contacts on the ground are confirming the chaos surrounding the relief effort.

it is time to invade Myanmar and save those poor survivors from the outrageously corrupt Junta
Hmm... Invading a country to "liberate" them from all the horrible people in power. Sounds familiar to me, and if I recall it didn't work out so well that last time. Just because this disaster happened and their government didn't act doesn't justify invading their country. My guess that would only lead to more unnecessary death. Diplomacy, even when it doesn't work so well is always better than invasion.
invasion doesn't have to always mean using bombs and missiles ! i call for a humanitarian invasion. dropping medical supplies and food to the needy in the interior areas. if the junta doesn't want this, then just go in and do what is needed to save lives. US has done this in the Congo and saved lives.
there was an article in TIME magazine on this issue as well.
ship after ship loaded with supplies and helicopters, just off the coast -- the vast majority of it given a red light, so it sits there undistributed. fuck that. air lift it in, drop it where most needed. no wicked untrustworthy foreigner ever has to set foot on the junta's soil. so the doctors and aid workers still can't help, but at least the death toll wouldn't escalate from a simple lack of basics. No way history would look back on that harshly.
