showing favoritism, the southwark council rushed through the preliminary application for the $425,000,000 tate modern addition which would have allowed the project to open before the 2012 olympics.
h&dem are in the process of changing the facade from glass to brick. as the original proposal was approved w/ a number of caveats, the change in materials would require a new application.
this begs the question: is the planning commision trying to sabotage a change in the design through the application process? full article

I think i might actually like the final design better with brick than the glass from the original render.
Be interesting to see what it looks like once design is re-worked.
Brick would be the local vernacular correct?
brick would be the direct adjacency, but the shakespeare's globe theater is pretty close as well (rebuilt) and is wattle & daub. now that might be interesting...
Holz,
For the Globe didn't they create a temporary outpost for the theatre out of Core-Ten?
Keine Ahnung
Huh?
no idea
I think that's the temporary Courtyard Theatre in Stratford on Avon, though don't hold me to that...
