I voted and I love the future Atlanta!!
I think Detroit needs some future thinking love, but ATL is certainly a great choice too (as long as it involves demolishing most of Buckhead.)
yeah next year it should be detroit, baltimore, and st louis...
Great calls on Baltimore and St. Louis!
The only thing is, when dealing with desperate cities, people who don't know them very well often look at them as blank canvases and make very sweeping generalizations. (I think about Camilo Jose Vergara's famously controversial proposal to turn Detroit into a modern ruin theme park.) When my dad was an architecture student at U of D in the sixties, he worked on an urban planning proposal for a blighted neighborhood. When his class presented the design to the neighborhood group, it was pointed out that part of a proposed park included someone's house. That really stuck with him and sticks with me when thinking about everything from urban planning simply designing a reception desk, and how the people who actually work there will interface with it 8 hours a day.
detroit needs bodies more than it needs fancy ideas. send immigrants please.
