why can't maki's building over here at MIT be as cool?
these are two different firms? Why does Maki's look exactly like EEK's?
It's almost shocking how similar Maki's design is to EEK's design.
Fumihiko Maki and co. may suffer from a lack of imagination. Is this the result of zoning strictures on mass? If so, the similarity can be excused. His WTC bldg has similar (and simpler) massing (diagonal revetment), only extruded to high-rise. Huge, impersonal, ascalar, glass boxitecture... it seems the 80's never ended for him. His excuse? "It wasn't an easy process, since the time we were given, the, only four months."
So, do you see the resemblance?
