Built in 1989, the five-bedroom, five-bathroom residence has been described as "a village that looks inward." There is a main house, an office, a guesthouse and a garage-and-gym structure with a breezeway. The half-acre of grounds include a reflecting pond, a swimming pool and an olive orchard. — latimes.com

I remember seeing this on an AIA tour over twenty years ago, when the house was new. I have a real fondness for a lot of Gehry's early work in the '80s, and this place did not disappoint. As a couple of the photos show, the entire site drops at the rear, where a master bedroom pavilion "floats" in a shallow pool. Nice.
By the way, at least half of that astronomical price tag is for the dirt: it's located in swanky Brentwood.
citizen, I think I was at the same tour...
It I remember this was the first or an early use by Gehry of his signature material: metal cladding. (not counting corragated or chain link)
A precursor to Schnabel House, Sirmai - Peterson House 1988. (A non invasive replacement bridge design by me.)
