The unveiling, which will take place November 13 through 15 in New York, has been years in the making. “I’ve been doodling ideas for buildings and furniture since the early 1990s, when I first discovered [Charles Rennie] Mackintosh and Frank Lloyd Wright,” says Pitt. “Actually, I found Wright in college, when looking for a lazy two-point credit to get out of French. It forever changed my life.” — architecturaldigest.com

Then why doesn't he just take the plunge and get his M.arch - oh yeah acting does pay more.
oh,
uh
ouch.
12 monkeys was good though.
.more evidence that design is not easy.
keep at it grasshopper.
lol.
you can tell the influence of Gehry in a few of his pieces
He's getting old...
$45,000 for the chair!?
Awsome. I knew he'd stay on the Architectural sidelines for only so long. It's hard to get on someone doing what they love, especially when it's designing stuff.
There's a hole in the world like a great black pitt, / And it's filled with people who are filled with shit.
Just something that came to mind, yo!
I commend brad for his efforts. If we were smarter we would use him as a spokesman to educate the public on the importance of good design rather than knock him for his efforts. We sure could use some PR out there!
Also, make it right was a great idea and it accomplished what our old tired business model could not! Brad Pitt has done more to bring architecture to the attention of the public than the AIA. We need more of these rich famous patrons.
These belong to "Italian" furniture store in your neighborhood... I guarantee those metal base tables (except the golf club one) are wiggly and would make eccentric percussion instruments at best. What I like about the bed though, it would provide a good built in ramp for the small dogs if they staple some anti slip material on the precious wood shown.
I agree with Xenakis that he should bite the bullet and go to design school for few years. He could even have home schooling but better he learns like the rest of the design students and have kindergarten chats with his classmates about design and architecture in those all nighter sessions and receive serious criticism from his teachers and fellow students. Otherwise, he is not that good at the moment.

My thoughts exactly. I don't expect him to be a great furniture designer, but this stuff looks like something a first year student would design, then look back at years later and cringe. I know I do when I look back at early design work.
For a little context, here's a link to the furniture company he partnered with on this line - pollaro.com
He may not be that good right now, but guaranteed if he where to go to school for a few years, he might end up hating architecture. Stick with acting, and keep architecture fun.
Lets be honest. The title of this post is disingenuous. If you read the linked article from Architectural Digest Pitt states that his input was fairly minimal:
"The term sketching is crediting me with far too much craft."
"Pitt...hesitates when asked how he feels about being called a furniture designer, cautioning, “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.”
Frank Pollaro clearly deserves most of the "credit" for what was produced and, as his website shows, he knows the value of a good celebrity name drop. This work may have been imagined by Brad Pitt but it wasn't designed by him.
The pity is that companies who should be engaging really talented designers choose to snag untrained celebrities and get them to "art direct" or "curate" things in the knowledge that the big names will shift units. This demeans design and makes it harder for those who strive to have their work judged on merit.
thumbs down
