does charles also balk when walking into any of the thousand or so chapels/churches produced through the ages that also incorporated stained glass as major components of design? does he walk into saint peter's and say that god can not be here because of light pouring through the
windows...michelangelo's pieta near the entry..obviously just a piece of art by an artist only interested in himself.
maybe if there was an ounce of analysis or more explained reasoning i could understand...but god is complex..light is made by god (if you believe in god) and all things are inspired by god...it is not holl's fault charles has ADD and is unable to close his eyes and kneel and listen to the stillness.
the author seems like a poseur to me. he's copying the premise of a local archtecture critic (L. Cheek) and trying to appropriate his logic. definitely petty.
exactly what i was thinking, lars. the alternative to the grand cathedrals, of course, was the asceticism of the cistercian monasteries. maybe that's where mr mudede needs to go.
typical of the stranger. their restaurant reviews are the same way. writers spend 80% of their space talking about everything else but what they should be speaking about.

what a waste of web space.

this 'article' is petty at best.
i can't think of anything more godless than a POE.

seriously? a page of posturing and one paragraph of review, dictating the proper method of prayer and appreciation of god...

Perhaps he fell alseep each time the priest started talking about light as a metaphor for God? It could've come in handy when writing this dribble.
"The space is too complex for God, too designed for His simple presence." By this standard Chartres is the worst church EVER.
