In Paris, at the Jardin d'Acclimatation, LVMH's Bernard Arnault, unveils a "dream"; weaved by FOG, a glass facetted quasi-blob, yet to be softened into "a cloud made of glass". "I want everything to look like my drawings," Gehry went on, waving toward large reproductions of seemingly chaotic pen drawings. "The model is not quite there. We've built 30 or 40 models, and the design is still evolving. It's not going to look exactly like this, so forgive me: I want the lines to look like the sketch."
It will house art works collected by Mr. Arnault, including works by Monet, Yves Klein, Chris Burden, Takashi Murakami, Doug Aitken and Matthew Barney, and maybe a large iron sculpture by Richard Serra currently standing in the lobby of the LVMH headquarters. NY Times

"large iron sculpture by Richard Serra"??
I'm surprised the article doesn't mention that other Giant Glass Art Pavilion That Has Nothing To Do With Luxury Goods Branding, Nothing At All, the Cartier Foundation.
And the American Center went under precisely because its Gehry building bankrupted them.
And is it just me or does Gehry sound as loopy as Libeskind in these quotes? Make it all stop!

there is no way you can build this with 3-DH. what a sad sad sad world this would be, without the tycoons, you know whatahmean..
I just wonder --- do this mean that all the other top-hats carry just as little substance , as little structural core as this.
Beside --- I guess it would be a stupid thing to do, to replace the curved beams that and stickers that hold this emty shell in the air, with 3D-H .... but it would be an improvement to have the structure for floors at various levels intergrated with the skinny ribs , True it wouldn't be the same but I guess it would mean less fiddeling and more attitude and style, case somone skilled with 3D-H tried it.
But ofcaurse --- there are more tradisional way's to deliver levels at various hight, guess you just build two houses Sorry 3 houses ,Eh 3.5 houses one inside the other other ;
First you build one, then two and then 3 , and to get the floors and walls within the emty shells of the 2 houses you build 0.5 house -- the floors and walls --- inside the other emty shells ontop that all tradisional brick house at the bottom.
All I have to say is -
Sketch of Frank Gehry (the doc.) illustrates just how ridiculous this man really is. He designs exterior facades first (with an assistant, a pair of scissors, and some clear tape and tapes them together for some 'cool' composition) and then some poor intern has to figure out how the Janitor Closet mop sink will be able to defy gravity. Frankly, Frank is bad news for architecture/society.
stupid vuitton...like even more stupid people who buy these stupid bags....all they deserve each other...
there are no interns at gehry's office. It really bothers me that everyone and their mothers feel free to comment about Gehry's design process with their preconcieved notions and made-up scenarios about how people do things in that office. If your concern is the janitor mop sink, then clearly you're not an architect.
