We need to redefine what we mean by “parking lot” to include something that not only allows a driver to park his car, but also offers a variety of other public uses, mitigates its effect on the environment and gives greater consideration to aesthetics and architectural context. — nytimes.com

I WORK ON THE MIRACLE MILE IN LOS ANGELES, AND THERE IS A HUGE PARKING LOT NEAR LACMA THAT SITS EMPTY MOST OF THE TIME. THERE HAS BEEN A HUGE FOOR TRUCK MOVEMENT HERE IN LOS ANGELES, BUT THEY PASSED AN ORDINANCE WHERE THE TRUCKS ARE TICKETED IF THEY STAY IN THE SAME SPOT LONGER THAN AN HOUR OR SOMETHING, AND THE PARKING ENFORCMENT WAITS THERE FOR THEM . I WONDER WHY THEY DONT JUST RENT THE SPOTS TO THE TRUCKS, AND CREATE A "FOOD COURT" ON PRIVATE PROPERTY?
considering west hollywood main source of revenue is issuing parking tickets.. i don't think LA is going to make an effort to utilize all their vacant concrete plains anytime soon. this state is broke.
