talks to Cameron Sinclair about his architecturally humanitarian goals: "There's no room for utopian dreamers, but there's definitely room for pragmatic experimenters." Eyeteeth.
Bryan, that review is sort of ridiculous, especially as the book isn't out yet. the earliest advance press copies arrive May 19th. The writer completely missed the point I was making in the article and even got the facts wrong (we actually did connect architects to the projects in Afghanistan).
?? are you suggesting Irene Cheng fabricated the book contents? Because the installation attributed to 'Heavy Trash' is none other than Marmol Radziner (who then should be notified of her phantom effluvia).
my suggestion is to deal with press - supportive or not - with elan/poise. You don't see Rem nor Zaha concerned over the contents of Gutter.
snowi, I never suggested that she fabricated book contents - I know about heavy trash, we put the book together. I was referring to the anecdote about the UN call as being wrong, as noted earlier.
The point is.. the book isn't out. I haven't seen it yet!
As for the gutter. the difference is that Rem or Zaha don't have to care about cheap shots thrown at them as they are not reliant on the trust of project partners and donors.
Some of it is funny but posting photos of beneficiaries and calling them crack whores is out of line. It also ended that particular project, a tranistional housing complex for abused women, one that many people put alot of time into.

that sucks, sorry for linking it, Cam. looking forward to the REAL reviews soon enough, then.
