Following our previous look at an opening for fellowships at the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, we are using this week’s edition of our Job Highlights series to explore open roles on Archinect Jobs for Healthcare Planners at Flad Architects, who are currently hiring for 37 positions across the country.
The positions in Raleigh, Tampa, New York, Madison, and Gainesville, call for individuals who will be responsible for master planning, programming, and developing large, complex medical facilities. The ideal candidates will have a minimum of 15 years of recent experience in master planning, programming, and developing medical projects, alongside a thorough understanding of codes and standards related to healthcare facilities.
The open positions for Healthcare Planners at Flad Architects offers us the opportunity to explore a selection of completed healthcare projects by the firm, the details of which can be found on Flad Architects’ Archinect profile.
For pharmaceutical company Novartis, for instance, Flad designed a facility in Holly Springs, NC that can quickly adapt its functions in response to healthcare crises. To this end, shared spaces including dining, conference, and training areas seek to foster communication and teamwork between departments, supporting both rapid vaccine production and a cohesive work environment.
At the Shands Cancer Hospital for the University of Florida, meanwhile, the firm centered the design process on creating a patient-friendly environment, consolidating cancer services to enhance patient experiences. The hospital’s design emphasizes natural light, rooftop gardens, and sustainable materials, blending traditional aesthetics with modern functionality to support a healthy, healing atmosphere.
Elsewhere, on the University of Wisconsin’s Madison campus, Flad designed the second phase of the University of Wisconsin’s Biochemistry Department expansion along similar sustainable design principles. The 250,000-square-foot complex integrates historic facades to maintain campus character while housing laboratories for 20 research groups, teaching auditoria, classrooms, biochemistry instructional labs, administrative space, a variety of specialized equipment and support facilities, and offices for the national nuclear magnetic resonance structural database initiative.
