The latest project by Polish firm Mobius Architekci is a contemporary farmhouse-style home, designed to have a harmonious relationship with its natural surroundings. 

Taking the shape of a loop, in which the structure is seemingly both closed yet fluid, the home is aptly named the Loop House. It is situated on a large plot of land, appearing to naturally emerge from the landscape. 

The main compositional axis is the nearby lake, which becomes a natural extension of the living space. The building’s form allows each of the rooms to open up to the surrounding environment through gentle folds. 

Despite spanning over 8,600 square feet, the home appears to be very subtle and delicate. Looking from the street, the structure seems to disappear into the landscape. As one moves closer, the body of the building looks like it is levitating above the site. Its position above ground creates space beneath the building, which encourages natural airflow and minimizes interference with the site. 

On the lake side, the home opens up completely, revealing its large, panoramic windows and glazing. This transparency allows for uninterrupted contact with nature.

The Loop House’s façade is made of natural materials, such as stone and wood, which blend well with the surrounding landscape. Corten was also used. Together with stone, these materials change their texture and color over time, making the house visibly transform from changing weather conditions. 

Some of the building’s walls were deliberately clad in climbing plants, further emphasizing the organic character of the house. Plants are also present on the roofs, which help regulate temperature and rainwater retention, in addition to their aesthetic function.

To ensure that residents are fully comfortable, the home is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, such as photovoltaics, a heat pump, and an intelligent equipment management system. The architects see the Loop House as a space that is ideal for people who want to escape the pace of the city, while preserving the comforts that technology can offer.
