UCLA Architecture and Urban Design is now back in session, and that means it's time for a rundown of the events and speakers coming to campus in the new Fall term. Each event will take place in Westwood's Perloff Hall and begin at 5:30 pm unless noted otherwise.
EPFL Lausanne professor Alfredo Thiermann visits on October 10th for the term’s first book talk on his new title, Radio-Activities, followed by a lecture from IwamotoScott founding partner and UC Berkeley CED Architecture Department Chair Lisa Iwamoto on October 17th. Influential MIT professor Skylar Tibbits visits on October 24th, followed by an October 28th book talk on Misfits & Hybrids: Architectural Artifacts for the 21st-Century City with author Ferda Kolatan.
November begins with WEISS/MANFREDI co-founder Marion Weiss’ November 18th book talk on Drifting Symmetries. She will be followed by another UPenn-affiliated duo, Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu of Neri&Hu Design and Research Office, who will present on the topic of integrated design on November 25th.
Following theirs is a December 2nd presentation from Tokyo-based architect and professor Takaharu Tezuka to close the term for this year. Looking forward, the Spring promises to be equally engaging, with scheduled appearances from Preston Scott Cohen, Frederick Fisher, and other headliners.
