Continuing with a look at the public events and lectures in store this Fall term for our Archinect Partner Schools, we feature the newest addition to our 10-school partnership, the University of Southern California School of Architecture.
The semester begins September 9th with a conversation between Olafur Eliasson and the new Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) director, Johanna Burton. Their discussion serves as a preview for the upcoming exhibition Olafur Eliasson: Open. The Icelandic-Danish artist is participating in the return of the third edition of the popular PST ART.
Next up, Lorcan O’Herilhy will take part in a September 11th discussion of his new book Building in Place: Architecture Rooted in Context and Social Equity, which is due out September 17th. The social housing pioneer will be followed by the just-named 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale collaborator Marlon Blackwell's lecture Radical Practice on September 13th. The week ends with a celebration of life for former professor Robert S. Harris at 10:00 am on September 14th.
The following weeks will include Dean Brett Steele's State of the School address on September 27th and lectures from Neil Leach (September 20th), Sadie Morgan (October 1st), Lisa Little (October 16th), Bea Martin (October 18th), Eui-Sung Yi (October 30th), and Tatiana Bilbao (October 28th).
Lawrence Scarpa, co-founder of Brooks + Scarpa, will visit campus to speak about his new book Salty Urbanism and the impending crisis facing coastal cities on November 13th. His appearance precedes Jesse Reiser's lecture on Weaponizing Craft on November 15th and RIBA Charles Jencks Award winner Anupama Kundoo on November 22nd.
Other events to keep an eye on for the fall are the USC Architectural Guild's 42nd Annual Gold Tournament, which takes place on October 7th, the Architecture Student Organization Fair on September 20th, and the Material Acts symposium on November 23rd. Details about each lecture can be found here.
Be sure to follow our Get Lectured series for more events hosted by architecture schools. If your school is hosting a lecture, open house, or other exciting event, you can submit it directly here.
