Gensler and Gilbane Building Company have announced the design for a major renovation of the 25-year-old M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. The home of the Baltimore Ravens NFL franchise is set to undergo a list of stadium enhancements that will bring the fan experience in line with other professional sports entities, including the addition of social spaces, club experiences, dining, and expansion of its concourse and plaza areas near Camden Yards.
Three new membership clubs will be delivered at the field level on the west, north, and south corners of the stadium, with another suite area added above the West End Zone Club by 2025.
Other upgrades include an upper-level concourse expansion that will add an additional 12,000 square feet of space in three locations, the construction of a new two-level “Baltimore Style” fan area called the Gatehouse totaling 5,000 square feet, and enhancements to the North and South plazas to create a year-round entertainment zone with LED displays and a sports bar that is similar to the firm’s groundbreaking ‘Deer District’ design for the Milwaukee Bucks arena in Wisconsin.
Two new pro shops and a Ravens history exhibit are set to be added through the renovations as well, along with a slate of infrastructure improvements around the site.
"In connection with the extension of our lease, we are grateful to partner with the State of Maryland and Maryland Stadium Authority for this significant investment. M&T Bank Stadium is not just home to the Ravens, but it's an epicenter of excitement, opportunity and Maryland pride," team President Sashi Brown said in a statement. "This renovation program positions M&T Bank Stadium as a venue that will continue to provide Ravens fans with one of the best gameday experiences in all of sports, while also attracting world-class concerts and other live events to Maryland."
The project will unfold over a three-year timeline between 2024 and 2026. No costs for the plan were made public at press time. Another sports project from Gensler, LA's Crypto.com Arena, is currently getting a major “nine-figure” overhaul in collaboration with MEIS.
The news follows the recent announcement of SoFi Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers, as the future host of Super Bowl LXI in 2027.
