New images released by Urbanize LA reveal that the Eric Owen Moss Architects-designed (W)RAPPER office tower has topped out.
The 17-story, 183,000-square-foot high-rise stands out with its free-form steel exoskeleton that wraps the structure allowing for column-free interiors. The freshly topped-out building in the Baldwin Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, which was originally approved in 1999, stands 230 feet tall. It is reportedly set to be completed in June 2022.

cool!
I'm surprised that you like this.
Cool as in this architect is one of many who try to do cool work not realizing it's an ephemeral concept not worth aspiring to. This travesty is an example of why .
Leave the scaffolding on. Now that's a wrapper!
Do not un(W)RAP before Xmas!
Like EOM projects, this would be okay as a 2" tall model and gets worse with every inch it grows towards full scale. At 200' tall, it's horrendous.
He has some good projects.
I've always loved the column-free exoskeleton structural concept, but the specifics of it here are horrendous. Sometimes no matter how rigorous your process is you gotta step back and ask yourself "is this good?" and the answer here is nope, it looks like some chintzy 90's developer office building facade.
Also, inefficient execution of an elegant concept. Does every exo-structure column-free building have to become an ultra-efficient cross-braced SOM box? No. But show some fucking discipline with the structural expression.
I just drove by. What an inspiration.
In fairness, I don't think it's finished yet. But it's tough to imagine what could bring this to life.
Wow, that looks HIDEOUS, perhaps the spaces inside will be interesting...
Moss's above actually raises this one in my esteem.
Somebody, get a new glue gun!
