Architecture, master planning, and interior design firm, The Architectural Team (TAT), has announced a scholarship in partnership with Boston’s Wentworth Institute of Technology (WIT).
“The Architectural Team Endowed Scholarship” is a need-based scholarship for students pursuing degrees in Wentworth’s School of Architecture and Design. It is intended to build a pipeline into professional practice for underrepresented students.
Applications are set to open in early 2022 for the 2022-23 academic year. TAT will make a $25,000 contribution to the scholarship, which will be dollar-matched by funds from the Wentworth endowment as part of the school’s Advancing Student Access and Potential (ASAP) Challenge program. In addition, scholarship recipients will have an option to apply for a one-semester co-op opportunity at TAT, allowing them to receive professional experience and build networks.
"We are delighted to continue our strong partnership with The Architectural Team,” said Associate Dean of Wentworth’s School of Architecture and Design Mark Mulligan. “This scholarship is critical to the University’s mission to expand access to the profession of architecture by supporting our talented and diverse students."
This initiative continues TAT’s long-standing relationship with Wentworth, in which hundreds of WIT students have worked at TAT through their co-op program. As stated in the scholarship announcement, “more than 30 out of the 95 current TAT staff are graduates of the university — including three of the firm’s six principals.”
The announcement of this scholarship comes as part of the firm’s 50th anniversary and also celebrates the legacy of TAT founder Robert J. Verrier, FAIA, who passed away this year.
