Architect Robert Rock is facing a Herculean task: Design a bridge that will allow mountain lions to cross safely over a stretch of the 101 Freeway that roars with the traffic of 300,000 vehicles each day. — LA Times
A pedestrian bridge for animals in the region has been proposed for several years. Advocates will now face an uphill climb to raise an additional $27 million for the projected $65 million price tag before August after previously securing $38 million thanks to a #SaveLACougars social media campaign from the National Wildlife Foundation.
The bridge is necessary to protect gene flow between two small populations of wild cougars that live between Simi Hills and the Santa Monica Mountains. With funding, the bridge could be installed in time for 2025. The LA Times has more on Rock's project here.

The recent architecture grad was concerned about the mature, inebriated women trying to hoof it home to Encino after crashing their car on the 405.
With a name like Robert Rock, I don't think this architect has any problem attracting cougars. He's likely responsible for a fair share of their conservationism by himself alone so no need for this silly bridge.
Also responsible for the demise of Metallica.
I hope it's sprinkled
Cougar urine.
"I hope it's sprinkled" right, not to be taken lightly for jumping fires!
anyway, this is a long-shot project.
We have ecoducts like this all over the Netherlands connecting nature areas and allowing wildlife to cross. No cougars though, except for Stacey’s mom of course...
We have some here in Canada too
Joking aside, these corridors are very important for wildlife, as well as driver safety.
This is about as much as we can hope for in the US. https://twitter.com/PeccaryNotPig/status/1224515892282740737
Occasionally we'll get something better. I know of some overpass types in Montana and Washington state. I'm sure there are others.
I was too slow on adding links: Montana and Washington
