Their "Grand Rounds" lecture series dives into healthcare design during and after the current Covid-19 pandemic. Broken into three discussions the first round of lectures took place on Sept 10th focusing on Covid/Care/Community. Speakers such as Rachel Minnery (Senior Dir. of Resilience, Adaptation & Disaster Assistance at AIA), Molly Scanlon, Ph.D. (Dir. of Standards Compliance & Research at Phigenics, AIA COVID-19 Task Force member), and David Vincent (Principal and Director of Health at HKS Architects) gathered to discuss ways architecture can support responses to pandemics like COVID-19 and how the architecture community responded.
On October 8th the second round focused on Understanding Virtual Reality in Design and Research. Architect at Pulse Design Group Callum Vierthaler spoke alongside health research lead and VP at HKS Architects Deborah Wiingler Ph.D. to discuss VR's emerging roll in designing for the users and clients.
Closing this fall series will be the third and final round "The Future of Architecture" on November 12th. Phillip G Bernstein (Associate Dean and Professor Adjunct at the Yale School of Architecture), Heather Chung, MDA (VP and Healthcare Studio Leader at SmithGroup) and Richard Embers (Principal at Pulse Design Group)
