School of Architecture + Design at Virginia Tech shares their Fall lecture series and focuses on new modes of practice. According to the school, they ask, "How do we make architecture for today?"

The school shares, "For New Modes of Practice we have invited a group of young practitioners working in new ways both in how they represent architecture and in how they redesign the relationship between practice, politics, society and criticism to share and discuss their work with us this fall." Since September, their exemplary speaker line-up has expanded on this focus. "Our speakers for the fall all are moving beyond modes of design that dominated architecture during the late 1990s and early 2000s. They are less interested in technical mastery for its own sake and put more emphasis on political, social, and critical ideas."
WAI THINK TANK's Cruz Garcia & Nathalie Frankowski conversed with Aaron Betsky on September 2nd. Andrew Kovacs and Anna Neimark presented on September 23rd, while Jerome Haferd and Brandt Knapp of BRANDT: HAFERD led their lecture on September 30th.
ATELIER FALA's Ana Luisa Soares and Ahmed Blkhodja kicked off the month of October, followed by a presentation from Byrony Roberts and Erin Besler. On October 28th the school welcomes Zeina Koreitem & John May of MILLIØNS. Closing the Fall series will be presentations from Mira Henry and Matthew Au of CURRENT INTERESTS on November 4th and Andrew Holder of The LADG on November 11th.
All lecture events occur on Wednesday evenings from 7-8 PM (ET), while a follow-up discussion/debate/conversation will continue on Thursdays from 2-3 PM (ET). All lectures are free and open to the public. To RSVP and learn more, click here.
