Amid a dramatic staff downsizing at leading Southern California public radio station KCRW, it was reported that the popular show and podcast DnA: Design and Architecture hosted by Frances Anderton will be discontinued from mid-December after being on the air for 18 years.
The Los Angeles Times writes that the cuts "represent a loss of 18% of the NPR affiliate’s staff, reducing it to 127 full- and part-time employees. It comes less than two years after the station began moving into its $38-million media center on the campus of Santa Monica Community College."
In a Sep-15 tweet, Anderton stated: "It's official: 24 of us are taking buyouts from @KCRW, mine effective mid-Dec. Working there w/ huge talents has been the gift of a lifetime. So has the chance to spread the word about LA design + arch. I'll keep on doing so (unless I go start my fantasy goat farm). Stay tuned!"

Archinect has collaborated with Anderton on multiple occasions, such as this Next Up: The LA River mini-session or the 2019 SHORTLISTED! symposium highlighting the current state of architectural commissions in Los Angeles
The impending cancellation of DnA comes on the heels of other recent losses of significant media and culture outlets serving the architecture and design community in the nation's second largest city, including the folding of Curbed LA and the closure of a permanent physical location of the A+D Architecture and Design Museum in Downtown Los Angeles.

Good that they get buyouts.
It's sad that I can tell what an article is about just by seeing the lead picture
So sad to see this go, Frances and crew you do a fantastic job and put together a great show. So glad I found you here in Chicago on TuneIn, will miss you.
Oh Frances, dear Frances...say it isn't so. We won't know what to do without your perspective, wisdom, and appetite for what's worth noting in the world of architecture, the environment, and design. You have been an amazing bellweather in a town that seems incapable of understanding, or even advancing a reasoned approach to the urban environment, and been an effective advocate, rallying the troops for otherwise invisible causes. You will be well and truly missed - I only hope you find a way to continue to press issues you find important, and help us help the city we love ( and it looks like many others all across the US and the World.
How about a "Frances Channel"? Now THAT would be momentous.!
