Harvard University seeks a Research Associate
The Office for Urbanization at the Harvard Graduate School of Design is hiring one or more full-time research associates to contribute to their applied design research projects. Working under the direction of Charles Waldheim, and in collaboration with the Office for Urbanization staff, research associates are responsible for developing applied design research projects on a range of urban sites and subjects. Candidates for this appointment(s) are expected to be professionally trained and experienced in one of the design disciplines (architecture, landscape architecture, urban design), and to hold a Master’s degree in one or more of those areas in the English language. Candidates should have experience in digital modeling and relational urban modeling (including Rhino and Grasshopper), and be highly skilled in representation at the urban and landscape scales.
California State Polytechnic University, Pomona seeks an Assistant Professor - Tenure Track
Cal Poly Pomona’s Department of Architecture (CPP ARC) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in the 2020-2021 academic year. The new faculty is expected to teach architecture studios, lectures, and seminars at the undergraduate and graduate level, and engage in scholarly activities. The new faculty member will also be involved in administrative tasks and service at the department, college, and university levels. Arizona State University seeks an Assistant Professor of Architecture
The Architecture Program seeks a colleague who will help further the mission of ASU. The candidate should show potential to transform the discourse around building design as related to energy and sustainability. This will include the ability to obtain major grants in support of research. The successful candidate is expected to teach studio and lecture courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Collaboration in research and teaching with other programs in and beyond Architecture, including the School of Sustainability, School of Geographical Sciences & Urban Planning, and the School of Sustainability and the Built Environment is desired.
Ball State University seeks an Assistant Professor of Architecture
Ball State University’s Department of Architecture seeks faculty candidates for two tenure track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor available starting August 2020. Major responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate level design studios and lecture and/or seminar courses in our professional and pre-professional architectural degree programs. NuVU Studio seeks a NuVuX Program Designer
The NuVuX Program Designer will be responsible for assisting the NuVuX team in the implementation of design and innovation programs at schools within our NuVuX Network. Programs at NuVuX partner schools are managed day-to-day by NuVu Fellows who work at the schools as staff members. The Program Designer will interface with NuVu Fellows, partner school teachers and administrators, and the NuVu team to help effectively manage NuVuX programs. The Program Designer will also be required to travel periodically to NuVuX partner schools to support Fellows, teachers, and students. An ideal candidate is passionate about education and excited about expanding their own knowledge and creativity.
University of Pennsylvania seeks a Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professor
This position requires the ability to teach design studios in architecture, as well as seminar or lecture courses according to the candidate’s research specialty. Depending on qualifications and interest, there may also be opportunities to participate in the Department’s Master of Science in Design programs: Advanced Architectural Design (MSD-AAD), Environmental Building Design (MSD-EBD) and the new Robotics and Automated Systems (MSD-RAS). Minimum qualifications include a professionally accredited Master’s degree in Architecture; PhD is welcome, but not required. Rank of Assistant or Associate will be determined based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
University of Michigan seeks Faculty in Design and Digital Culture
The University of Michigan Digital Studies Institute (DSI) and the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning invite applications for a joint (50/50) assistant professor tenure-track appointment. They are looking for colleagues conducting leading-edge creative practice and research in design and digital culture in relation to urban technology, encompassing topics such as computation and data, artificial intelligence and machine learning, gaming, or mixed reality and other emerging media. This position will serve students enrolled in the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Digital Studies minors, and students across the College of Literature, Science and the Arts as well as the university at large.
Rice University seeks an Assistant Professor
Successful candidates will be expected to conduct design studios (undergraduate and graduate) as well as lecture courses and seminars in a specific area of expertise (environment, technology, urbanism, history/theory/criticism, representation, fabrication, etc.). The school is interested in candidates with a defined voice and a clear design/research/intellectual line of inquiry who will contribute to the collective conversation of the faculty. These positions are available beginning fall 2020. Candidates should hold, at a minimum, a Master of Architecture degree or its equivalent.
University of Houston seeks an Assistant Professor of Interior Architecture
The university seeks a colleague who values collaboration, scholarship, and ‘making' with an ability to contribute to multiple levels of the Interior Architecture curriculum while promoting design excellence. As the newest program at the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design, this position offers candidates an opportunity to craft creative curriculum and methodologies which will place our program at the forefront of academic discourse In Interior Architecture. Candidates will be expected to teach design studios, conduct seminars and/or lecture courses, and to apply their research expertise to other programs and initiatives within the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design. Carnegie Mellon University seeks a Head, School of Architecture
Under the general direction of the Associate Vice-President for Capital Planning & Facilities Management, the incumbent will work with campus representatives, the campus master plan architect, and/or other project architects and engineers to prepare, design, and develop plans and specifications and obtain plan approvals for projects in accordance with all applicable codes and standards. Provides project management during design and construction to ensure project continuity, as required. Independently manages, schedules, and tracks consultant contracts from project inception through construction bid and award associated with approved projects. Advises the University Deputy Building Official, responsible for the enforcement of all applicable building codes and standards.
