Kanye West's "housing project" has been destroyed. Although the music mogul and controversial media star has made headlines with his plans to design and build a "new" type of home, TMZ's sources have confirmed the project has been shut down. The futuristic housing structures previously built in Calabasas, California faced destruction on Monday afternoon due to a failure to comply with building codes.
TMZ provides more details of the project's status: "All but one of the housing prototypes were torn down with about a week to spare before the September 15 deadline ... imposed by the L.A. County Dept. of Public Works for violating the building code."
Many Yeezy fans may be devastated by the news. However with one of the housing prototypes still standing, status of the project being moved elsewhere is still unknown.

Yeezy architected the shit out of that.
I wonder how many critics out there understand how incredible and difficult it is to come from a humble background like He did and become so successful...regardless of whether or not this particular project would be successful, can we at least celebrate that a young dude from Chicago is able to do these experiments....geez man.
Geez man... you're really sippin that Kanye-Aid hard bro.
We all understand the archetype of an individual of humble upbringings achieving success beyond what anyone else thought was possible. It’s a story that’s shared universally amongst humanity, so I think that’s a really weak argument.
Back to the topic du jour, I think that we agree that the success of this project won’t make or break Kanye’s reputation or credibility. Most people already have their mind made up about him one way or another.
However, if the rumors about Kanye working with Francis Kéré are true, which means we’re somehow able to elevate minimalistic buildings using local materials, passive cooling, and other simple sustainability principles to the level of mass-desirability, then he might be successful.
I truly hope that scenario happens.
Also, in terms of Chicago rappers from humble upbringings that are crossover success stories AND activists—Common takes the cake.
Hey you don't get the play that card anymore where he is concerned. He owns what- ten cars.. supports awful people.. feels little for real need ... goes against his own people.. there are many celebs who come from humble means and do good.. he isn't one of them..it's all Kanye.. 24/7 ..he cares about nothing but his ego.. Give me Common among others who put their pecuniary wherewithal where there maxillary orifice is.. He is of no good to anyone of need.
He’s using his own money to explore different types of housing. Pretty cool.
