The last 15 minutes or so were the most fascinating for me. I was intrigued by the discussion about housing affordable housing in Seattle and the implications of that definition as it related to residents who may fall below the threshold of affording affordable housing- and where those people would go.
Perhaps it was because it was late- but this made me think about the two post about Rem's recently developing interests in the countryside and how they may transform in the future (archinect posts here and here)- and how that persons who have been priced out will be moving into low density communities - possibly creating (different/hybrid/new/novel) economies and social dynamics not by choice but by default. The dead mall becomes a grow house/farm because there are enough people interested in using it as a rural/urban aggregator...
Clearly not at the core of the conversation- but again it was late when I was listening.
huzah holz!
