New York-based design practice LOT-EK showcases their crafty upcycling of ordinary objects in their latest monograph, “LOT-EK: Objects + Operations”. Want to learn more about the practice's design process? Thanks to publisher The Monacelli Press, Archinect is giving away five copies of the book to our readers!
Featuring a hardcover designed by MTWTF, the 400-page book was authored by LOT-EK founding partners Ada Tolla and Giuseppe Lignano with architectural writer Thomas de Monchaux.
Readers can peruse LOT-EK's built, unbuilt, and in-progress works — such as their shipping container projects — as well as their exploration of ideas. The projects are accompanied by photos from the firm's ongoing URBAN SCAN project, a “raw and observational” photo documentation that “focuses on man-made objects and systems and the way they proliferate, accumulate, overlap and interfere with the built, and natural, environment around the globe,” LOT-EK writes.
The book also includes interviews with Tolla and Lignano, and essays by de Monchaux.
Want a free copy of “LOT-EK: Objects + Operations”? Simply fill out this survey by the deadline on November 20, end of day. Five copies of the book are available to win. Good luck! (This giveaway is open to U.S.-based entrants only.)
