Archtober is back for another year! The New York City-wide festival has 31 days of exhibitions, lectures, conferences, films, tours, and other public activities that celebrate the significance of architecture and design in everyday life.

2016 Rosenblatt Lecture: David Chipperfield, RIBA | October 17
David Chipperfield will talk about his firm's past and current museum projects, and the evolving role of the museum. Although attendance has already been capped, the event will be livestreamed on Facebook live.
New York Botanical Garden 18th Annual Landscape Design Portfolios Lecture Series: Charles Jencks | October 17
Join Charles Jencks in this evening lecture at the Gardens. Jencks will discuss his projects, and share his working methods and design philosophies.
National Design Awards | Winners’ Salon | October 18
The winners of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum's 2016 National Design Award will lead concurrent sessions in this design salon, offering a unique opportunity to discover new ideas, connect with leading designers, and network with fellow attendees.
Beyond Boundaries: Examining Pathways for Diversity and Inclusion in Design | October 18
How can the design industry improve to make diversity and inclusive design a priority? This panel will focus on the issue of diversity in design, in regards to current challenges and prospective drivers of change and progress.
David Adjaye in Conversation with Surface editor-in-chief Spencer Bailey | October 19
David Adjaye has been the talk of the town lately, with the Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Culture now open in Washington, D.C. Adjaye will discuss his new project and other recent work with Surface magazine editor-in-chief Spencer Bailey.
Nordic Approaches to Creating Livable and Sustainable Urban Environments | October 19

Behind the Slice | October 20
What goes into making a single slice of pizza, but on an industrial level? Share a slice with a panel of pizza industry experts as they discuss their work in relation to materials and manufacturing, history, design, and environmental impact. Plus, dig into a discussion on current and future pizza culture.
Light in Architecture Screening | October 20
For all you Tadao Ando fans out there, the 'Light in Architecture' film series will screen “Tadao Ando/Koshino House” (Rax Rinnekangas 2009) and “Tadao Ando: From Emptiness to Infinity” (Mathias Frick 2014).
Meditation Walk with Tattfoo Tan | October 22
Take it easy on this Saturday morning meditative nature walk through the Freshkills Park North Park. Guided by Venerable Thupten Phuntsok and artist Tattfoo Tan, this walk reminds us to connect with our land within a greater urban environment.
Behind-the-Scenes Tour: King Manor Museum | October 23
A rare chance to tour the entirety of King Manor, the home of Rufus King (1755-1827), who was a framer of the U.S. Constitution, diplomat, senator, and outspoken opponent of the expansion of slavery. Tickets are $25. For members of the King Manor's Friendship program, tickets are $20.
