The ‘Next ‘Invasive’ Is ‘Native' | 23 August
Image: Cooking Sections
This lunchtime talk is a 30-minute consultation session with Cooking Sections on the devaluation of property, and looks into the idea of ‘non-native’ and ‘invasive’ species through the subject of ice-cream. Cooking Sections is a duo of spatial practitioners, who aim to explore the systems of the world through the medium of food.
“The ‘Next “Invasive” Is “Native” re-thinks the ‘alien’ as an entity that actually constructs a new reality... Scaremongering, deflation of property value and the refusal to grant mortgages to homeowners that have found Japanese Knotweed on their premises are processes that have created a market for expensive eradication programmes.”
