Week two of the London Festival of Architecture, and the pace is ramping up. Expect to find yourself in an internal war when deciding on what to do on Saturday - Architectural Yoga, or watching 'Boris Bike' racing…

 There are plenty of workshops and exhibitions to go to, especially over the weekend, and many exhibitions and open studios throughout the week. The vast majority are free, and are 'drop-in', so what are you waiting for?

Smellery of Smithfield | Until 2 July

Until July, catch this 'smellscape' at the Smithfield (a place which is already locally known for its distinctive odour), to explore how smells can unlock memory. Local stories and histories will also be included in this olfactory installation.

Once there was a Church | 7 June

This walking tour will explore the rebuilding of London following the Great Fire of London and WWII. These massive catastrophic events had a devastating effect on London; this tour will explain how the rebuild worked between these two city-shaping events, and the churches that were never revived.

Brave Old World | until 2 July

Opening this week is this exhibition at the RIBA headquaters, which focuses on the design of public spaces. From the sucessful to the unsuccessful, this echibiton brings together reasearch from international distinguished bodies, and includes international case studies.

Architectural Yoga | 10 June

Taking place in Sir John Soane's Museum, this yoga workshop will be held and created by architects, to show through gentle movements how the body holds onto memory.

Roadtrips by Routemaster: No.19 | 10 June

Join the National Trust on its route around the city on an original and restored bus. The tour will take in the sights and history of London, and the on-board staff of the National Trust will be giving unique insight into the stories behind the structures.

Concours D'Elegance at the Rapha Nocturne | 10 June

Each year, cycling enthusiasts line the streets of Cheapside for the Nocturne, a day and night of racing which takes on the bizarre and the professional. From a folding bike race (which includes a 'construction start'), to speedy professionals, this event has enough going on to keep even the most disinterested cycle-novice entertained.

The Concours D'Elegance is a particularly anticipated race, where the participants are actively awared for their ability to stay slow, and demonstrate good manners throughout obstacles on the course, which include 'selfie slaloms' and 'cell-phone zombies'. Dressing the part is also a big part of the event, and expect to see well-known architects in the line-up getting into the spirit, including Peter Murray who rides each year.

If you have or know any children, then the LFA has some great weekend events to keep them occupied and introduce them to the great world of architecture. Notably, there are four incredible workshops coming up on the weekend, all of which are held in great venues, and will fire up their creativity as well as entertain the adults! 

Building the Gallery will take inspiration from the new IF_DO pavilion at the Dulwich Picture Gallery, and artist Charlotte Cranidge will guide children through the process of creating structures. 

Building Memories is a collaborative workshop brought to us by Levitt Bernstein and will develop throughout its existence, as more and more people add to the woven pavilion structure.
