[The tower proposed for 340 Flatbush Ave Ext.] will rise 1,000 feet tall, claiming the title of New York City’s tallest building outside of Manhattan, and giving Brooklyn its first legitimate supertall skyscraper...The residential component will span 466,000 square feet, and be divided amongst 550 units, with approximately 90 floors in total. There will also be 140,000 square feet of commercial development... — New York Yimby
According to New York Yimby, "SHoP’s tower will be a dramatic improvement for both the cityscape and the skyline. With slender proportions capped in pointed, Deco-tinged accents, the building will have a notable presence without overwhelming its surrounds..."

There goes the neighborhood ...
Seeing as though no one from the supposed developer (JDS) or the supposed architect (SHoP) has provided any type of comment to YIMBY (who originally published this), why are so many other websites re-posting this story? How do we know this is a real project? Or that SHoP is really involved? This whole story seems like tabloid gossip.
HotelSpinx, you obviously do not work in NYC

<slow clap> So you found a permit from SHoP for this site. Congrats. It also claims it's for a 695' tower. YIMBY says it's really 1000'+.
And yes, I do work in NYC, meaning I know that every firm here has 100+ didn't-end-up-happening projects on their server. Showing a (presumably leaked) rendering of one of them doesn't mean it's real. That's pretty typical for YIMBY, just wish ArchDaily / Archinect could do something other than re-publish rampant speculation.
Give this to KPF instead
not sure why you're all emotional HotelSpinx and good cover, you clealry did not click long enough to find out that here is NO "supposed". its been filed, its in motion. its as real as it gets before actually being built. maybe you should work on your reading skills? and who cares if its YIMBYs schtick to report interesting filings....leaking is also standard NYC when it comes to these projects. all part of the is it 695' or is it 1000', community boards etc....with that much square footage the DOB fee was probably your salary and hiring SHOp to get that far into it is a nice budget. sure it may die last minute or could be speculative, but thats a lot of casg for just for fun in a market that is booming.......lets take a bet on this one?
Was that response even English?
But sure, why not, I'll work on my reading skills.
olaf, why does it say "dissaproved"? an dates back to february 15?
sorry to hear that HotelSpinx....JLC-1 these things take time, i.e. zoning, dept. of finance, etc...and it shows last doc scanned 2015/09/02, so there still trying...
or it's all a spectacle, all the way down to the municipal paperwork?
so let's wager on this one?
HotelSpinx learns to read if it does get built and I learn to write in English if doesn't. I will be writing for a while.
Anyway, HotelSpine you knock Tabloid reporting, while not bothering to read anything, so you were very convincing in your critique that ended up being wrong. <fast clap>
I still think the Morphosis sky-scraper in Europe looks better, and is better sited than this.
