If I were an art collector or had a even a few expensive pieces I would not pay to let them fry in these apartments. And from an energy efficiency point of view, these buildings are literally worse than SUV's.
I think it's pretty interesting that in New York where anonimity is a great commodity one would want to spend seven figures at showing your private space. Even if you are dinning at 30 stories up an eye thru a telescope may be savoring your lasagna without you knowing it. From an energy efficient stand point I would imagine that during the winter it's great and that in the summer the high tech glass will have great R value in order to not loose half your pay check in air conditioning.
