What would be the purpose of this road? The purpose would be to invade Alaska and capture our oil.

Actually it's to help open up the huge expanse of Eastern Russia for development of natural resources.
^ Yeah, right - just leave that last 60 mile leg/bridge over the Bering Strait off the CD's.
