The Opera House station at the eastern shore of the proposed Dubai Creek Sixth Bridge will be the premier station on the green line extension linking the Dubai international Airport to new de- velopments to the south and east. The station is designed as an intermodal facility providing waiting and drop-off areas for bus and taxi transportation as well as an enclosed passageway to a ferry terminal to the west of the station.
The station is designed with a number of energy saving mea- sures. A high performance skin adapts to thermal and visual performance requirements in real time throughout the course of a day. Platforms are provided with natural daylight to reduce lighting loads while shading devices and openings are oriented to reduce direct solar heat gain. In addition, the metro system is designed to use 5 cars with platform edge doors. Edge doors allow platform enclosures to be discrete conditioned volumes, leaving the area of the station above the train un-tempered.
The station skin will be lit with LED’s that will transform as the metro trains move through the station.
