Working with SOM, the Nuevo Polanco project emphasizes the creation of a live-work-play community with an iconic and identifiable public space that engages with the public domain. Rather than following similar developments of inward-focused spaces, Nuevo Polanco focuses on public amenity and to the exterior of the building envelopes.

A matrix of tree groves and bars, lawns, play spaces,
water features, hardscape, and exterior furniture are
combined to create a flexible and enlivened public realm. Spaces are crafted as rooms along the east-west axis, providing destinations to travel to as well as nodes to circulate around. This public realm design connects to nearby art museums and park systems.
