Delft, NL | Kaohsiung, Taiwan | New York, NY
Right through the middle of the Technical University of Delft (TU Delft) used to run the bustling and broad Mekelweg (Mekel Way). This road was closed at the beginning of 2007 to make way for Mekel Park, 800 metres long and 80 metres wide. The TU Delft aims to transform its grounds into a University Campus, creating attractive surroundings for its international community of professors and students.
This transformation is in keeping with the university’s goal of being recognized as a world-class institution for research and education. Formerly, the buildings of each different faculty and their respective parking lots sat like bulwarks along the road.
Now, with the buildings located alongside the park, they illustrate their interdisciplinary connection. The park unifies and adds allure to the university while also providing a pleasant experience.
