Isala College lies in an idyllic landscape in the east of Holland. The Oude IJssel – the river from which the school gets its name – runs next to a sand track flanked by old oaks.
The school itself is located on an oak-lined avenue. It is a long, shallow building with a gentle curve, as though imitating the course of the river. With not more than two storeys, it is a modest presence in the landscape, allowing a view below the tree canopy out to the spacious river landscape.
