Preservation and renovation of an existing 3 story building on Yaroslaviv Val street, in the center of kiev. Total area 10 987 sq. m. Year 2007. A 5 star hotel is proposed as the new function of a once, multi-appartment residential building. The plot has to stay traversable fo citizen, and part of it is to become a landscape park.
A thee three story facade is preserved as architectural heritage. Four more stories continue the building upward. The main volume of the hotel is raised on columns to the height of 3rd floor. It is positioned under an angle to the length of the site, this is due to a very old and valuble tree growing on the southern side of the site. The recessed 11 story block allows the street level to remain within limitations, at the same time opening a recreation space on the roof at the mid-level of the hotel.
